Description
The delivery of this project through the Sport In The Community Programme sees a free Soccer programme taking place in key areas that have been identified as previously affected by anti-social behaviour. Street Soccer League are established at such venues and generally on a Saturday Night, utilizing our existing sports facilities to make a positive impact within community life, health and wellbeing.
The aim of this project is to ensure local people can participate in community life, foster better relationships between local residents through the use of Sport and Physical Activity. The programme also addresses a need for better access to improved community/leisure facilities and perceived insufficient provision of social play and sports facilities. Young people have sufficient access to programmes, including youth activities and outreach work which offers divisionary activities alongside healthy living advice and support services (eg: advice about drugs and alcohol abuse, and dangers of addiction).
Participants from all venues came together across the year most notably over 120 participants took part in the finals night in March 2017 were we brought all the participating venues together for a celebration event.
